The summer break on Izvorišta is over. There were no broadcasts for a few weeks, but last week the new season started on Radio Student, Radio Roža, KLFM, Sun Radio and Radio Bruškin. As usual, I publish last week's show on Substack on Mondays. In this show I presented new albums by Buzz' Ayaz, Bedouin Burger and Söndörgő & Chris Potter.

Buzz' Ayaz - Buzz' Ayaz (Glitterbeat Records, 2024)
Buzz' Ayaz is a new project by Cypriot musician Antonis Antoniou, and their style is best described as Mediterranean psychedelic folk. Their first album was released by Glitterbeat Records, and even before that, Buzz' Ayaz were featured at several festivals this year. I was lucky enough to see them at Globaltica and they were just great. The album itself is one of the best debut albums in recent years, and you can read more about it in the article where Antonis describes each song on the album:
Track tales: Buzz' Ayaz - Buzz' Ayaz (Glitterbeat Records 2024.)
Mediterranean psychedelic folk. This is perhaps the best way to describe the Cypriot group Buzz' Ayaz, who are releasing their first, self-titled album today via Glitterbeat Records. Even before the release of the album, the band has won many fans with several fantastic singles, especially with their brilliant live performances. I'm sure their popularit…
Bedouin Burger – Ma Li Beit (PopArabia, 2024)
Bedouin Burger is the Lebanese-Syrian duo Zeid Hamdan and Lynn Adib, combining traditional Middle Eastern melodies with electronics. As well described in the review on Scene Noise: "A colourful fusion of classic Arab maqam, Levantine and Yemeni folk rhythms with pulsating, and at times abrasive, electronic beats, the album is yet another playful exploratory effort inspired by the rich nomadic culture of the Arabian peninsula and the Levantine region."
Söndörgő & Chris Potter - Gyezz (Ground Up Music/L’Autre Distribution, 2024)
Söndörgő is a Hungarian group that became known worldwide for their performances of Banat-Croatian tamburitza songs, which they mix with various other musical genres. Throughout their career they have collaborated with numerous musicians, and now they have recorded an album with American saxophonist Chris Potter. His jazz sound fits perfectly with what Söndörgő does, and I would dare to say that this is the best album the Hungarians have recorded in their career.

Izvorišta 417: feelgood edition
This was the last episode of Izvorišta this season before a short summer break, and here it is finally on Substack. I wanted to make a summer mix for the last episode, and since we all associate summer with relaxation and pleasant feelings, I came up with the idea of making an episode with feel-good music. Once I came up with the concept, the realizatio…
