Izvorišta 437: Libérica, Warsaw Village Band & Bassałyki, Songhoy Blues
I have started to present albums from the year 2025 on Izvorišta. In this episode, I played several tracks from the album "ALÉ - Iberian Chants" by the Spanish group Libérica, as well as from the album "Héritage" by the Malian group Songhoy Blues. The third album I presented is "Sploty", recorded by the legendary Polish group Warsaw Village Band in collaboration with the trio Bassałyki.

Libérica - ALÉ - Iberian Chants (Segell Microscopi 2025.)
Libérica is a project led by Spanish bassist Manel Fortia, which brings together traditional music from the north and south of the Iberian Peninsula, from Catalonia and Valencia, on this album. "ALÉ - Iberian Chants" is an excellent fusion of traditional music and jazz that will sometimes surprise you with its directions. The first great album of 2025.
Warsaw Village Band & Bassałyki - Sploty (Karrot Kommando 2024.)
Not much needs to be said about the Warsaw Village Band, or Kapela ze Wsi Warszawa, as they are called in Polish. They are definitely the most important Polish world music band and one of the most important European acts in this genre.Their new album was recorded in collaboration with the trio Bassałyki, who brought a completely new sound based on reggae and dub. Although it may sound a bit cacophonous, "Sploty" really makes sense in practice.
Songhoy Blues - Héritage (Transgressive 2025.)
After more than 10 years of making music, Songhoy Blues have shed their status as a young band, and in the best possible way on this album. "Héritage" is their fourth album and definitely their best to date. It shows the maturity of the quartet and at the same time returns to their roots in a certain way.
