Izvorišta 391: best of 2023. (exYu edition)
The regional music scene has produced many excellent albums in recent years, and in 2023. we have also seen interesting releases from the former Yugoslavian countries. In this edition of "Izvorišta," I have played 12 albums from this year.
Three highlights stand out. One is the album "Dens" by Lenhart Tapes, which offers a wild combination of old folk songs and industrial, noise music. Than there is the album "Ode dite" by Adam Semijalac, who has written original songs in a traditional way and plays traditional instruments in a blues style. The third notable album is "The World And All That It Holds," the new album by sevdah master Damir Imamović, which was created as a kind of soundtrack for Aleksandar Hemon's new book of the same name.

Adam Semijalac also released a joint album with Croatian folk veteran Dunja Knebl ("Moje srce se reskoli"), and Zagreb a cappella group Pjev collaborated with well-known jazz musicians Kit Downes and Hayden Chisholm on the album "Medna roso." Lakiko mixed modern classical music, jazz, and sevdah on the album "What To Do, How To Live?" , while Marta Kolega and Dunja Bahtijarević (album "Pjesme") combined poetry and traditional chants from all over the world.
The Bosnian-Serbian duo Almir Mešković and Daniel Lazar live in Norway explore music from around the world on the album "Family Beyond Blood" they. The Cyclist Conspiracy is also influenced by the music of other countries and fused psychedelic rock with music from the Maghreb, Africa, and the Balkans on the album "Mashallah Plan." Nemanja explored Afro-Colombian and Caribbean rhythms on the album "Voodoo Beat.
Dobrila and Dorian Duo stayed in the Balkans on the album "Pile šareno" and offered an interesting interpretation of Macedonian songs, while Vladimir and Kalafat further explored Dalmatian music on the album "Evala Mare Evala."
I have played one song from each of these albums in this show, and invite you to enjoy the wonderful music from the countries of former Yugoslavia.
