Howie Lee - At The Drolma Wesel Ling Monastery(Mais Um Discos 2024)
Over the past 15 years, Howie Lee has emerged as one of the most interesting Japanese musicians, playing with various traditional elements and successfully incorporating them into different music. On his latest album, he combines Tibetan Buddhist chants with somewhat edgy electronic music based on samples of traditional Tibetan instruments. This is undoubtedly one of the most exciting albums of the year.
Bagedai - Bagedai (Sea Of Wood 2024)
Bagedai is a 12-piece band from the Chinese province of Yunnan that blends polyphonic singing of the Wu people from China with (not only) reggae rhythms and grooves. The description sounds strange, the music sounds wild, and the five female vocalists will blow you away with the power of their voices.
Fulu Miziki - Mokano EP (Moshi Moshi Music 2024)
Fulu Miziki are not just musicians. They are performers and activists and are known for making their instruments out of trash. Of course, they first introduced to the scene by Nyege Nyege Tapes, and after becoming a global concert sensation and performing at numerous festivals, they now return with a new mini album/EP titled "Mokano" (Moshi Moshi Records). It's hard to say which of the six songs on this release is the best…
